Introducing the Brag Book

Now, this piece of personal and professional development magic is exactly what it sounds like – a record of your accomplishments, awards, wins, affirmations, lessons learned, brags, and whatever else makes your heart happy.

I started doing this years ago as a way to help me keep track of all the work I was doing and prepare for reviews, promotions, resume writing, and job interviews. It's one of my favorite tools, and I think every professional needs one.

The Brag Book is simply a physical or digital notebook where you record notes about each week, month, year, and project.

The notes in your Brag Book should focus on:

  • What went well?

  • What you learned?

  • What’s your plan for the next week/month/year/project?

  • Trends

If you don’t have a fun notebook on hand to use as your Brag Book, or you want a starting point, don’t worry; I have you covered. You can download the worksheets I use. Hello Diana Brown’s Brag Book.

Using the Brag Book

The idea is that each week, maybe on a Friday when you have a quick 15 minutes, you fill out the weekly brag worksheet. Then, each month, you'll do a bigger review. And you’ll wrap up each year by doing the yearly review worksheet.

As I mentioned before, the Brag Book I have for you also has space for projects, so you can keep track of what you're working on and accomplishing in real-time.

Because you're inputting the information while it's still fresh and top of mind, you'll be able to record specific details – what you did, what you learned, what you were able to implement, and what results you got. This will not only speed up the time it takes you to prepare for your review but also help you organize your thoughts so you know exactly what to talk about when asked about your accomplishments and goals.

This book gives you the notes you need when it’s time to brag about your value.

Download the Hello Diana Brown Brag Book and use it to start documenting your awesomeness.

And when you’re ready for more leadership tips and development for your firm, here are two ways we can work together.

1 – Create a better team and win more projects with 1:1 or team training. Most people don’t fall into marketing in the AEC industry by design, and even fewer learn about leadership development in college. I provide you or your team with professional development training that builds teams so your firm can win more work and then do that work well. Get the details and hop on a call here.

2 – Invite me to speak to your firm or organization about leadership development, marketing, and creating story-focused proposals and presentations that make winning easy. Get more details right here
